EWL managing partner Craig Emanuel and Colonial First State group executive for distribution Bryce Quirk join Professional Planner editor Chris Dastoor to discuss how to build a successful advice practice from the ground up and the qualities a good adviser needs.
EWL opened its doors four years ago, but the foundations were set over 30 years. Emanuel spent several years at Macquarie before joining UBS and later Morgan Stanley, transitioning through almost three decades with a combination of large domestic and global banks.
This episode will discuss the challenges of starting an advice business and the lessons learned from transitioning to being an adviser to a business leader. Emanuel will talk about the most important qualities he learned about managing client relationships, particularly during periods of market stress.
Emanuel reflects upon lessons learned from leaving Morgan Stanley to start EWL; the qualities of a good adviser; and habits he has personally adopted to thrive at his practice.
