Total superannuation assets have surpassed the $4 trillion mark at the end of September, according to new quarterly data released by APRA.

The nation’s total superannuation assets now sit at $4.08 trillion. It represented a 13.4 per cent increase compared to statistics at the end of September 2023.

Total APRA-related assets have surged 15.1 per cent to $2.8 trillion, while total SMSF assets also cracked the $1 trillion mark, representing a 10.9 per cent increase compared to 2023.

Total contributions increased by 13.1 per cent to $191.3 billion in the year ending in September 2024. Of this, employer contributions increased by 11.4 per cent over the year to $140.8 billion. Member contributions increased by 18.1 per cent over the year to $50.5 billion.
