ASIC and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to permit data and privacy breach information sharing.
The MoU authorises ASIC and OAIC to share information for the purposes of exercising powers or performing functions as well as responding to written requests. It also sets the protocols for the request, sharing, use and confidentiality of information.
The MoU is effective from 13 June 2024 and continues as long as both agencies agree that it correctly reflects their powers, functions and duties regarding the sharing of information.
