Buscoli plans for life and death in SMSFs

Members of the Financial Planning Association (FPA) attended Advanced Technical CPD Workshops around the country in November and December last year. The third and final part of the FPA’s Advanced Technical Workshops and Professional Planner Education Series videos has Cavendish’s head of education David Buscoli explaining the ins and outs of planning for death in self-managed super funds.

With his signature style, Buscoli takes the audience on a romp through the lives of two fictional characters, Brad and Angelina, and their two kids. Trustees in their own self-managed super fund, the couple suffers tragedy early in the story, with Brad taken by an angry forklift at the tender age of 31.

That’s the beginning of a complex tale that humorously navigates the challenges of binding death-benefit nominations, trust deeds, grasping children and much more.

Each workshop ran for two hours but the video below has been edited down to 30 minutes.
