Delegates are strongly encouraged to attend the Superannuation reforms: the process and the implementation session on day one, being led by Peter Hogan, technical director of the SMSFA. It’s a great opportunity to get full oversight of the topics and themes that the conference will cover.

It will be an opportunity for Hogan to explain the central case studies at the heart of each session. Presenters have been encouraged to draw on the case studies during their sessions.

A short video will introduce ‘The SMSF family’, which includes a range of different people, all with unique needs and circumstances.

Some family members are married and some are single. There are grandparents, parents and children with families. Other variables the case study explores include a divorce and a second marriage. Delegates will also receive information about the detailed financial position of each family member.

While presenters have been encouraged to use The SMSF Family in their addresses, they can also vary the facts to suit their presentation.

Delegates will be able to access an information sheet after they have completed a session, which will outline licensing requirements they will need to satisfy to provide advice in relation to the information discussed.

Hogan’s session will also introduce material that will be explored in the specialist workshops, a format many members have indicated they enjoy. Most workshops are already heavily subscribed, so act now if you’d like to attend any that are not yet full.

Attendees who cannot get to one of the workshops for any reason will still benefit, as there will be plenty of opportunities throughout the conference to discuss the many important issues facing the SMSF sector, such as:

  • Regulatory changes
  • New investment products
  • Demographic changes
  • Retirement income products
  • Succession planning
