As part of a continuing strategy to expand its range of offerings in the Australian market, Nikko Asset Management has launched the Nikko AM Japan Share Concentrated Fund.

The Fund aims to achieve capital growth over the long term and will provide investors with exposure to an actively managed and relatively concentrated portfolio of specifically selected Japanese equities.

The underlying strategy into which the Fund invests is managed in Tokyo by Nikko Asset Management’s Yuki Watanabe who has over 18 years’ experience in investment management. Backed by a highly experienced team, Mr. Watanabe takes an active investment approach based on thorough fundamental research, analysing long-term structural trends and identifying companies that benefit from them with a focus on growth potential and shareholder returns.

Mr. Watanabe noted that: “We have strong relationships locally, which provide our team with unique insights into the underlying companies and the ability to tap into opportunities that may otherwise have been overlooked.”

Sam Hallinan, Nikko AM’s managing director, said ”This is another step forward for our Australian business in offering investors access to specialist regional and country-specific investment opportunities. We remain committed to leveraging our unique Asian DNA as a global asset manager and in this instance providing Australian investors with direct access to one of Japan’s most successful and experienced Japanese equity teams.”
