Crowd-funder DomaCom announced today that we have appointed former TV presenter Nikki McCarthy to be our buyer’s agent at The Block auctions, televised live in November.

The Block, Australian TV’s longest running reality show, starts this week on Channel 9 with five couples competing to create the best apartment.

Adding to the interest that The Block generates this year will be DomaCom’s crowdfunding campaign.

For the first time viewers will be able to support their favourite team and invest in the apartment of their choice from as little as $2,500 to share in the future rental income and capital growth.

Having been a TV presenter on ‘Postcards’ and property show ‘On Display’, Nikki has always loved working with people. Her experience in business and her role on the property show ‘On Display’ led her into residential real estate.

She understands what it takes to get the best results when buying or selling a property having worked with developers and agents through the course of the show.

Nikki is now living the dream and working closely with RT Edgar Camberwell Principal Glen Coutinho as she continues to pursue her love of all things property.

“I am so excited with DomaCom’s crowdfunding platform because it heralds a new era for property investors who don’t have sufficient funds for a whole property or who want to spread their investment across multiple properties. There are many more people wanting the type of investment structure that DomaCom offers, said Ms McCarthy, and The Block is a great way to demonstrate this.”

Viewers will be able to use DomaCom’s platform as an investment vehicle in one or more of the apartments, effectively widening the net of those viewers who can be involved at this level.

DomaCom, which is poised to list on the ASX with applications closing on Friday 19th August, is also progressing a bid to acquire Kidman Station, a process now in its ninth month, and is also commencing discussion with a major charity to create low cost housing options on a crowd funded basis.
