Registrations are in full swing for Future2’s flagship fundraiser, the Wheel Classic, and the financial planning and cycling communities are donning their helmets and gearing up to support Australia’s disadvantaged youth.
The charity bike tour aims to provide much-needed funds, hope and support to those less fortunate, with each participant encouraged to raise $1,000 for the foundation.

Matthew Rowe CFP®, Future2 Chair, said the endurance of Australia’s financial planners will be tested on a circular route beginning and ending in Perth from 17 – 23 November. The ride will wind up just in time for the start of the Financial Planning Association’s (FPA) Professionals Congress, which is being held in Perth for the first time in 22 years.

“The Future2 Wheel Classic is an important initiative in our calendar as it presents planners with the chance to give back to the community and help those who are socially and financially disadvantaged,” said Mr Rowe.

“This event is also an opportunity for planners to get away from their desks, take in the sights of Perth, and network with their peers,” added Mr Rowe.

Eleven riders have already signed up for the ride, including the FPA’s new Head of Education, Shaun Weston-Cole. With riders having raised $14,000 already, this year’s fundraiser is off to a strong start. AMP are the Gold Partner sponsor for the fifth consecutive year.

This year, cyclists will pedal to centres including Perth, Bunbury, Margaret River, Bridgetown, Collie and Mandurah. In addition to fundraising, the Wheel Classic will demonstrate its support for the FPA’s grants program, visiting WA Grant Recipients along the way. A highlight stop will be The Esther Foundation’s famous not-for-profit café, which helps young women who have come from difficult situations develop skills and gain work experience in hospitality.

Now in its seventh year, the Wheel Classic has raised over $585,000 for charity. Routes have included Sydney to Brisbane (2015), Melbourne to Adelaide (2014), Melbourne to Sydney (2013), Sydney to Melbourne (2012) and Bourke to Sydney (2010 and 2011).

Early bird registrations have been extended until 31 July. To register, or donate, visit: http://www.future2fundraising.org.au/event/wheelclassic2016
