The Association of Financial Advisers (AFA) and leading life insurer TAL are calling on female financial advisers to nominate for the 2016 AFA/TAL Female Excellence in Advice Award (the Award) which will be officially launched at a series of events in capital cities across the country this month.
Now in its sixth year the Award, developed as a joint initiative by the AFA and TAL, recognises the talents and contributions of women in financial advice. In calling for nominations, AFA CEO Brad Fox said the Award demonstrates the AFA’s commitment to helping outstanding women in the advice profession receive the recognition they deserve.
“This Award stands not only to acknowledge women who are excelling but also to inspire our profession as a whole to rethink the way we deliver advice,” Mr Fox said. “Part of our mission is to encourage more women to consider financial advice as a career and more women to take on managerial roles in the industry. Another important aim is to encourage more women in the community to seek financial advice.”
The Award continues to evolve with some important developments. The prize has increased to a $15,000 TAL education package which the winner can customise for their education interests, aspirations and requirements. An online nomination system has also been introduced this year to make the process easier and more efficient.
Niall McConville, General Manager Retail Distribution said TAL is proud to continue to invest in the Award and to champion women in advice.
“It is a privilege to nurture the Award in partnership with the AFA to really make a difference to the women who have participated and to recognise the unique qualities women bring to the profession,” Mr McConville said. “Through this Award we have the opportunity to lead the debate on lifting female participation in the advice profession from its current level of 20 per cent. Bridging the gap will help ensure the profession appropriately reflects community diversity and further, sustainability of financial advice.”
Judges on the Award panel this year include AFA CEO Brad Fox; TAL General Manager Retail Distribution Niall McConville; Elixir Consulting Managing Director, Sue Viskovic; Jade Financial Group’s Dianne Charman (previous FEIA finalist) and Dartnall Adviser’s Eleanor Dartnall (previous FEIA finalist).
The 2016 winner will be announced at the AFA National Adviser Conference in Canberra on 7 October.
