RARE Infrastructure, an affiliate of Legg Mason (the responsible entity for RARE’s funds), has today admitted two new infrastructure funds to ASX’s mFund Settlement Service. This brings the total number of funds available through the service to 161.
The ASX mFund Settlement Service, which started in late 2014, now has 48 investment managers and 18 access points across a range of ASX brokers and their distribution customers, who enable investors and SMSF trustees to access the service.
Mr Ian Irvine, Head of Customer and Business Development at ASX, said: “Global Infrastructure is an asset class that has grown in popularity in recent years as investors and their advisers look to diversify their portfolios. The inclusion of RARE in the mFund service allows investors to access this asset class in a manner that suits them. It not only extends the number of infrastructure funds available on mFund, but also provides the opportunity to invest in infrastructure assets in both developed and emerging economies. Investors benefit from having greater choice of assets within an expanding ASX investment ‘supermarket’.”
Matt Bushby, Head of Global Partnerships and Co-Head of Retail Distribution at RARE Infrastructure, said: “RARE is pleased to join ASX’s mFund Settlement Service and to be able to provide investors and their advisers with another access point to this important asset class. It’s also important for these investors to have the choice of a hedged or unhedged version of the fund, enabling them to manage their currency exposures in a way that best suits their needs.”
The mFund Settlement Service provides an electronic and seamless way to access unlisted managed funds without the need to complete complex paper applications. mFund collects the required information electronically in a similar way to buying or selling shares. mFund holdings are held alongside other ASX investments on a client’s unique Holder Identification Number (HIN) in CHESS.
