Financial services stalwart Tony Fenning, the former managing director of SFG Australia, has joined Fortnum Financial Group as a non-executive director while his son Matthew Fenning has joined Sydney-based Fortnum principal practice Fortuity Strategic Advisors as a director and financial adviser.
Fortnum Financial Group chairman Ray Miles said Tony was a “very well regarded, highly intelligent and experienced” addition to the Fortnum board.
“Tony’s insight and experience will have a great impact and help take Fortnum to the next stage in our journey,” Miles said.
“We want to build a sustainable, long-term business for our advisers, clients and staff. We’re focused on helping our principle practices grow and become more efficient as well as growing the dealer group because scale will allow us to continue driving down costs for clients.”
Matthew Fenning, who has over 15 years of experience servicing clients and in management roles, has joined Fortnum from AMP Financial Planning.
“I was attracted to Fortnum’s independently-owned dealer group model and share a deep conviction with the group’s core principle – the client always comes first,” Fenning said.
Fenning has joined Fortuity Strategic Advisors as a Director and Adviser and will continue to work closely with the practices’ existing adviser Noelene Judd-Watson.
“Noelene is a very experienced and successful adviser with a reputation for excellence in client service. I’m enjoying working with her and I’m excited about the organic growth opportunities at Fortuity and the foundation that the business provides for future suitable acquisitions.”
Fortnum Private Wealth managing director Joel Taylor said Fenning epitomised the next generation of professional advisers who were rising up in the advice industry.
“Matt is a high quality, extremely capable adviser who’s focused on the client and he’s the perfect cultural fit for Fortnum,” he said.
“Within the Fortnum network, there’s a collaborative group of younger advisers who regularly meet to share ideas and experiences and Matt is now a key part of that group.”
Taylor said an important part of Fortnum’s growth strategy was to recruit more like-minded professional young advisers in addition to experienced, established advisers.
