Taxpayers Australia welcomes the recent granting of Royal Assent to the legislation setting up the new ombudsman’s office for small business.
Taxpayers Australia’s CEO Moti Kshirsagar says small businesses often found it tough to deal with larger competitors and that the role of the small business ombudsman is expected to provide some comfort and an avenue of appeal to small businesses against aggressive larger competitors.
“Small businesses are struggling. Our members report that they are facing challenging times. It is only appropriate that small businesses have the opportunity to complain against any unfair treatment through a formal dispute resolution process,” says Kshirsagar.
“We encourage tax practitioners to understand the new process so that they are able to advise their small business clients appropriately of their rights.”
