State Street Global Advisors (SSGA), the investment management arm of State Street Corporation (NYSE:STT), has announced the expansion of its managed fund sales team in Sydney with the hire of two experienced sales managers.

Syvanna Croyden and Amanda Conner will be responsible for executing in-field sales, reporting to Amy Johnston, head of managed fund sales.

Syvanna, who was previously a key account manager at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, has 16 years of business development experience in the financial services industry including roles at AMP Capital, Colonial First State and Credit Suisse Asset Management. Amanda joins SSGA from Barclays, where she launched the asset management business in 2007, and was responsible for introducing alternative asset solutions to the Australian intermediary market. Prior to this, she held various distribution roles representing multi-asset class solutions for The Private Collection, Macquarie Bank and Adelaide Bank. Amanda has 15 years’ industry experience.

SSGA managing director and head of distribution, Peter Mitchell, said the appointments were a significant move for SSGA, which three years ago expanded its traditional institutional client offering and ETF sales to include managed fund sales focussed on the distribution of active solutions in the advisory market.

“The move has been a great success in terms of the client relationships we have developed and the diversity of the conversations we are having about creating solutions for specific problems rather than simply creating products,” Mr Mitchell said.

“During that time we have launched five actively managed funds – two benchmark unaware Australian and global equity strategies as well as three objective-based multi asset class funds. We regard these as solutions for advisers and their investors who are looking to achieve explicit investment objectives.”

The funds are currently only available through intermediaries.

“We are very fortunate to be able to attract such high calibre people as Syvanna and Amanda and are confident they have the right experience and values to support our clients in this rapidly changing industry and investment environment,” Mr Mitchell added.
