BetaShares, a leading Australian manager of exchange traded funds, today announced four new staff appointments across its portfolio management, compliance, marketing and adviser services divisions, as the company gears up for further strong growth in the ETF sector.
In addition to the new appointments, Louis Crous has been promoted to the role of Chief Investment Officer. Louis joined BetaShares prior to the launch of the company’s first ETF, and has overseen portfolio management for BetaShares since the company’s inception. Louis was previously a Senior Investment Product Specialist at nabInvest (the direct investment business of National Australia Bank) and prior to that with South Africa’s Rand Merchant Bank in Sydney, London and Johannesburg.
Thomas Reif has joined BetaShares as Head of Quantitative Research and Portfolio Manager, bringing significant portfolio management experience from firms such as State Street Global Advisers, JP Morgan and Dimensional Advisers.
“We are strengthening our research and portfolio management capabilities as our business continues to grow,” said BetaShares Managing Director Alex Vynokur. “We are particularly pleased to recognise Louis for his integral role in the development of BetaShares”.
Additionally, Matthew Reeves has been appointed as Compliance Manager. Matthew has previously worked in compliance roles within financial services, most recently at ClearView Wealth.
Sarah Hare has also been recruited as BetaShares’ new Marketing Manager. Sarah’s most recent role was at Macquarie Bank, where she managed content marketing across the bank’s adviser, personal and business banking channels. Prior to this, she worked in small business marketing for HSBC Bank in London.
Finally, David Whitby has joined as Account Manager – Adviser Services. David’s focus at BetaShares will be on financial planner and institutional relationships. With 16 years’ experience in financial services, David’s most recent role was with fund manager GMO Australia. He has previously worked at Suncorp and BT Funds Management.
“The new additions to our team position BetaShares strongly to take advantage of continuing rapid growth in the ETF market over the rest of 2015 and beyond,” said Mr Vynokur.
