The Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) has finalised the following information sheets in relation to the requirements for registration as a tax (financial) adviser:

TPB(I) 24/2015 – Relevant experience for tax (financial) advisers
TPB(I) 25/2015 – Applying for registration during the transitional period: Sufficient experience to be able to provide tax (financial) advice services to a competent standard

These information sheets explain the TPB’s position on two key topics relevant to registration as a tax (financial) adviser from 1 January 2016. In particular, TPB(I) 24/2015 provides guidance on the relevant experience requirement for registration, including the renewal of registration, under the standard option. TPB(I) 25/2015 provides guidance on the key experience and competence requirements for registration under the transitional option.

The TPB released these documents as exposure drafts for comment in January 2015. In preparing the final information sheets, the TPB has taken into consideration submissions and comments from key stakeholders and interested parties.
