AIA to support Tottenham Hotspur’s tour to Sydney

Following a successful launch of the AIA Vitality MiniRoos program and record football participation levels, life insurer AIA is joining forces with ANZ Stadium and Destination NSW to support Tottenham Hotspur’s visit to Sydney to play an exhibition match against A-League side Sydney FC.

Taking place at ANZ Stadium on 30 May, the match will give Australian football fans the chance to watch some of the world’s best footballers take on one of the biggest football clubs in Australia. The match will be telecast live on Channel 7 to an expected audience of more than one million nationally.

As Spurs’ official shirt sponsor, AIA is the official partner of the club’s tour to the Asia-Pacific region, which will see Spurs visit Kuala Lumpur from 26-27 May and Sydney from 28 May to 1 June.

AIA Australia Chief Executive Officer, Damien Mu, said: “We are proud to be supporting Spurs’ visit  to Australia as we continue to promote participation in sport as a key component of healthy living.

“We believe in the power of football as a positive force to benefit the community by encouraging young people, in a fun and engaging way, to experience not only the value of healthy living, but also the benefits of teamwork and perseverance.”

AIA’s support for Spurs complements the recently launched AIA Vitality MiniRoos program in Australia. Launched in February 2015, the introductory program is a modified version of football that provides boys and girls aged 4 – 11 years with a fun introduction to the world game.

While in Sydney, Spurs coaches will be supporting the AIA Vitality MiniRoos program by running coaching clinics with children in Gosford, Wollongong and Sydney. Up to 1,000 participants, including youth teams, underprivileged children and other community groups, are expected to attend.

Tottenham Hotspur Chairman Daniel Levy said: “We are delighted that AIA will be supporting our tour to Malaysia and Australia. The Club has a large fan base in the Asia-Pacific region and AIA has a significant presence in the region. Together, we look forward to activating our partnership during our visit in May. Our Global Coaching team will be working alongside AIA throughout the Tour to engage local communities in order to encourage participation in sport and promote health and wellbeing. These are principles that both organisations value greatly.”
