BOQ Specialist announces industry-first partnership with AFA

Furthering its longstanding commitment to supporting professional development among the professionals it serves, BOQ Specialist today announced an industry-first partnership to be the Association of Financial Advisers’ (AFA) preferred financial services provider.

The agreement will deliver AFA members a bespoke personal banking solution, with access to exclusive banking offers, as well as discounts for professional development courses through Kaplan.

Head of Banking at BOQ Specialist, Christian Goodall said: “Financial advisers are a unique group of professionals with a distinct set of banking requirements. Partnering with the Association of Financial Advisers (AFA) enables us to constantly engage with the profession and work with its members to ensure we can produce the best personal banking offering to suit their needs.”

By understanding the professionals it works with, BOQ Specialist is able to offer a personal banking proposition based on professional designation or association membership rather than net worth.

For financial planners this means access to a holistic banking package, which includes for an annual fee a competitive variable or fixed home loan with the ability to borrow over 80% LVR without paying Lenders Mortgage Insurance and an optional 100% offset account on variable home loans *, coupled with an everyday transaction account – the BOQ Specialist One Account.

As an additional offer for AFA members, BOQ Specialist will credit $200 into the AFA member’s One Account for the first year they hold the banking package.

“We are very pleased to formalise our strong working relationship with BOQ Specialist by announcing that it is the preferred financial services provider for AFA members,” said AFA Chief Executive Brad Fox. “It is exciting to have a banking partner that will support advisers to reach their potential by truly understanding and supporting our members over the long term.”

To support ongoing professional development, AFA members will also receive up to $150p.a when paying for a Kaplan course on a BOQ Specialist Signature credit card.

“BOQ Specialist understands that association membership and ongoing training are paramount in terms of career development and job sustainability within the financial adviser’s profession,” Mr Goodall said. “For over 20 years we’ve catered to niche professional clients such as doctors, dentists, vets and accountants. Financial advisers represent our next evolution and we are delighted to offer AFA members an exclusive new banking package.”

Today’s agreement with the AFA adds to a long list of existing partnerships with a range of professional associations, including the regional Australian Medical Association (AMA) in NSW, ACT and QLD; the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP); the Australian Dental Association (ADA) and the Australian Veterinarian Association (AVA).
