Praemium is pleased to announce that its SMA platform has been selected as the SMA Platform Winner of this year’s inaugural Lonsec Awards held on Tuesday 14 October.
Presented by Lonsec and SuperRatings, the inaugural Lonsec Awards used a mix of qualitative and quantitative measures to identify high achieving funds managers and investment products that have stood out amongst their industry peers.
David Erdonmez, Lonsec Research CEO, said: “The awards provide an opportunity to highlight and recognise excellence within the industry, and Praemium is a deserving winner.” In its review Lonsec noted that Praemium “has demonstrated an ability to develop and evolve in the rapidly changing financial services technology market” and recognised Praemium as “an independent technology platform [with] the widest menu out of those surveyed and their reporting is very good, arguably the best.”
The fact that SMA platforms are now being included in Lonsec’s award suite is a real milestone for the SMA platform industry. Whilst some early adopters have been using them for a number of years, they are now attracting mainstream interest and usage from across the industry due to the significant benefits for a variety of users: investors have beneficial ownership of the underlying securities; investment managers can manage model portfolios that reach a larger number of investors; advisers can build real scalability into their businesses by outsourcing administration and focussing more on value-adding activities; and licensees can better manage risk and know that client portfolios are managed and always up to date.
National financial planning and mortgage broking group Astute has recently gone live using the Praemium SMA platform across their adviser network. Director Brad Wood stated that “Astute recognised early that SMAs were the future. We assessed the key SMA platforms in the market and selected Praemium based on a number of criteria. They are the dominant SMA player for good reason.”
