The ALUCA TurksLegal Scholarship offers life insurance professionals the educational experience of a lifetime with the opportunity to attend one of three major international life insurance conferences of their choice, while contributing to debate on cutting edge issues affecting the future of risk insurance in Australia.
The 2014 ALUCA TurksLegal Scholarship is now open to financial members of ALUCA working in the life industry or working for life reinsurance companies, superannuation trustees or superannuation administrators. The scholarship was developed through a partnership between the Australasian Life Claims and Underwriting Association and law firm TurksLegal and provides entrants with a unique opportunity for professional development and recognition.
Last year’s winner, Linda Winterbottom, Claims Rehabilitation Consultant now at RGA Reinsurance says, “The ALUCA TurksLegal Scholarship provides an amazing opportunity to attend world class conferences with exposure to international best practice and innovation from other life insurance markets across the globe.”
Entrants are asked to submit a paper of a maximum of 2,500 words on one of ten diverse questions drawn from a broad range of topic areas pertaining to the life insurance sector. Entrants are able to select a question that most suits their experience and interest.
“The scholarship has become an industry event that creates a buzz every year. There are always a different range of questions, but there will inevitably be something that will allow incisive and thoughtful analysis of an emerging topic that really matters.
Of course, there is also an air of anticipation about who will win and a really great prize, so that is part of the excitement as well. Best of all, we are proud to be part of something that contributes so positively to advocating world’s best practice in the Australian life insurance sector”, said John Myatt, head of TurksLegal’s financial services team and member of the scholarship judging panel.
The successful applicant will be selected on a range of criteria including understanding and insight of the topic, sound evidence, research and presentation skills.
The judging panel is comprised of industry leaders including:
– Alph Edwards, Partner, TurksLegal
– Phil Hay, Head of Life Insurance, BT Financial Group
