Rice Warner expands in response to client demand

Australia’s leading consultancy for the financial services sector has today announced a major restructure and the appointment of several key personnel. This reflects underlying demand for its services throughout the life insurance, superannuation and wealth management sectors.

The business has been organised into three key teams, namely life insurance, superannuation and investments and a new digital consulting team. Within life insurance and superannuation & investments, there are team leaders in consulting and market insights (capturing all Rice Warner research activities).

An important strategic initiative by Rice Warner has been the formation of a Digital Consulting arm. The team will be led by digital solution specialist Ashley Priest, who will report to Deputy CEO, Melissa Fuller. Joash Belousoff is also a recent addition to the team and brings with him a unique combination of software expertise and a deep understanding of the superannuation and advice markets. This significant shift for Rice Warner reflects the prevalence of new technology underpinning client strategies, including the core issue of efficient and effective member engagement and advice for super funds and advisers.

Ms Fuller said she was pleased to welcome team members to new roles, comprised of a number of highly accomplished industry experts either promoted from within or selectively recruited to join Rice Warner.

Promoted to the position of Head of Life Insurance, Thierry Bareau will continue to provide high-level service to clients supported by an experienced and talented life insurance team. Recent additions to his team include:

Alastair Adamson – Head of Life Insurance Market Insights. With a strong background in insurance product development, product management and product research, Alastair is responsible for developing and delivering life insurance research and insight to the market
Jenni Baxter – Senior Consultant. Jenni has more than 20 years’ insurance market experience and is an expert actuary in life insurance pricing and valuation
Nathan Rivett – Senior Consultant. Nathan brings 30 years’ experience in senior actuarial positions across a broad spectrum of financial services including Wealth Management, General Insurance, and Superannuation. Nathan’s primary focus at Rice Warner will be advising financial institution and life company clients in areas such as product development, market research, insurance needs, distribution strategy and actuarial processes. He will also assist us with our strategy to build our insurance business further.

The Superannuation & Investments team has also been strengthened with the recent appointment of Michael Berg, who has over 20 years’ global experience in advising on a wide range of superannuation and investment issues. Steve Freeborn, Head of Superannuation & Investments, says the opportunities available to superannuation industry participants provide an exciting operating environment. He believes Rice Warner is uniquely-positioned to assist clients. “We have a strong team of consultants, under leadership by Michael Rice, and a deep pipeline of business. We have also promoted Nathan Bonarius to lead our Superannuation Insights team. Nathan and his team play an important role in developing Rice Warner’s key insights around the opportunities and challenges facing superannuation industry participants today and for the future”.

These senior appointments have been supported by the recruitment of several analysts, taking the total number of employees at Rice Warner to 42.
