IMAP workshop to guide planning businesses through the ins and outs of setting up a managed account

The ins and outs of integrating a managed account offering to an advice practice will be canvassed in a workshop and webinar produced by the Institute of Managed Account Providers (IMAP), to be held next Tuesday.

The workshop and webinar at OneVue’s offices in the Sydney CBD will be led by Claire Wivell Plater, managing director of The Fold Legal, and co-hosted by OneVue’s head of platform and relationship management, Dan Powell.

Tuesday’s webinar follows a workshop and webinar held earlier this year, produced by IMAP and led by a director of T&C Consulting, Tony McDonald (pictured), which covered the increase in valuation and enhanced profitability for a financial planning practice that can be created by integrating a managed account service.

That session also covered the six big issues that all practices should address before taking the plunge.

Tuesday’s workshop is designed to guide participants through the tricky issue of choosing among the range and variety of managed account services now available, and the steps necessary to actually set one up.

Wivell Plater will cover how managed accounts work, the pros and cons of integrating a managed account into an advice offer, and the practicalities of establishment.

Powell will address comparisons between, and the ongoing management of, managed discretionary account (MDA) and managed investment scheme (MIS) structures, including the obligations of Australian financial services licensees and the role of the adviser.

The workshop opens at 10.15am for a 10.30 start, and the webinar will start at 10.30am. Full details on the venue, timing and other issues are available from the IMAP website.
