Sustainable investments producing strong returns for superannuation members

SuperRatings has completed its 2015 Infinity Review, analysing superannuation funds’ management of Sustainability, Environmental, Social and Governance issues. The key findings of our review show:

1.    Sustainable investment options offer members competitive performance. Over the year to April 2015, the median Sustainable Australian Shares Option returned 10.5 per cent while the median mainstream Australian Shares option returned 9.5 per cent. The median Sustainable Balanced Option returned 11.9 per cent while the SuperRatings Balanced Option Index returned 12.0 per cent.

2.    Choosing a superannuation fund with strong sustainability credentials does not have to be costly, with the average fee for Balanced Options among the 2015 Infinity Winner and Recognised funds sitting below the overall industry average fee.

3.    Local Government Super is the winner of the 2015 Infinity Award, whilst 15 other funds were awarded Infinity Recognised status.
