Ducks line up at AMP

Former Westpac executive Rob Caprioli has been hand-picked by AMP’s incoming chief executive, Craig Meller, to head up the group’s financial advice, banking and corporate superannuation businesses, while the search continues for a new head of AMP Financial Services.

Meller is currently head of AMP Financial Services but will replace Craig Dunn as chief executive of AMP Limited from January 1.

Caprioli, who joined AMP in December 2010 as acting director of product manufacturing, according to his LinkedIn profile, is currently director of banking and wealth management products. He will assume his new position from January 1, 2014.

Meller’s leadership team will also include Grocon chief financial officer, Gordon Lefevre, who will replace Colin Storrie as chief financial officer on March 1, 2014.

Pauline Blight-Johnston has also been appointed group executive for insurance and superannuation, responsible for AMP’s risk insurance, retail super, investment and pensions, and platform portfolio.

Stephen Dunne will continue to lead the group’s asset management business, AMP Capital, with Paul Sainsbury remaining in the role of chief customer officer with responsibility for the group’s new self-managed superannuation arm, AMP SMSF.

In announcing his new leadership team on Wednesday, Meller said the new structure bought together the senior leaders collectively responsible for delivering customer solutions across the organisation into one team.

“This new, simpler structure will allow us to sharpen our focus on customers and respond to emerging opportunities more rapidly,” he said.
