Advice in five minutes, client for life

The formalised matchmaking process known as speed dating has enjoyed global success and the concept is increasingly used at networking events. So why not with financial advisers?

As a method of encouraging people to meet a large number of new people, speed dating takes some beating as delegates at the 8th International Responsible Investment Conference found out.

About 12 advisers and a similar number of “clients” – members of the public or delegates – were involved in the session, which was facilitated by The Emerald Wrap managing director, Justin Medcalf.

Each received free general advice for about five minutes and was then asked to provide anonymous feedback.

There was no cost for what proved to be a lively hour and no obligation to go on a second date.
