Bobbin and Griffin on the road again

Ray Griffin

Ray Griffin and Peter Bobbin, founding trustees of the Future2 Foundation, are set to cycle a 1250km marathon for the second time, when the Future2 Wheel Classic 2011 fundraiser begins tomorrow morning.

The fundraiser aims to raise $100,000 from the financial planning industry to go towards disadvantaged young Australians.

“This is our way of giving back to the community and we’re appealing to financial planners, colleagues and friends all to dip into their pockets to support the effort,” Griffin said in a media release.

The gruelling 10-day challenge starts from Bourke and passes through Dubbo, Cowra and Wollongong.

The marathon ends at 3pm Martin Place on Friday, September 16, where employees of the event’s sponsors and supporters are able to join Griffin and Bobbin for the home stretch.

The Lord Mayor of Sydney, Clover Moore, will be there, along with family and friends to welcome the cyclists at the end of the journey.

If the aim is fewer licensees, let’s say so and choose them wisely

: Shifting the burden of funding the ASIC levy from individual advisers to licensees sounds great in practice but could drive hundreds of smaller, well-run licensees out of business. If reducing licensee numbers is the intention, other ways must be found to do it.
