TAL continues to build on its TAL Risk Academy program for advisers with a new education partnership and ‘on demand’ courses designed to be flexible for advisers.

This is an important part of TAL’s wider investment in promoting the value of life insurance and growing confidence in the category, under the banner of This Australian Life. The flagship Risk Academy is one of a set of growth-focused tools and services for advisers.

TAL General Manager, Retail Distribution Niall McConville said TAL was proud of its investment in superior professional education to help advisers grow their skills and their businesses.

“Our new partnership with CSU will provide accreditation of TAL Risk Academy classes towards Charles Sturt University qualifications. We have made a commitment to advisers to help them grow their businesses. Providing comprehensive professional development and education programs are designed to extend and build adviser skills”, Mr McConville said.

Importantly, the TAL Risk Academy’s curriculum has evolved as a result of feedback from advisers on flexibility and accessibility.

“We understand the time demands placed on advisers and our intent is to help our advisers attain the necessary and important education easily. The new program now features ‘on demand’ sessions that can be accessed at any time, choice of Association of Financial Advisers (AFA) and Financial Planning Association (FPA) and now offering accreditation with the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB)CPD accreditation plus extended sessions focusing on estate planning and engaging new clients.

“We wanted to reward advisers who are dedicated to quality advice outcomes by providing them with continuous professional development that encompassed a combination of workshop style and webinar sessions. Our client engagement courses have all been designed to enable advisers to generate leads and grow their business.

The TAL Risk Academy is managed by a TAL technical team dedicated to building content and tools relevant to advisers and the insurance industry and engages leading industry experts to run sessions.

The LinkedIn Master Class was recently held in conjunction with LinkedIn and leading social selling expert Tony Hughes.

Ben Shearman, Financial Planner, Whitehead Financial said the session provided valuable insights into social media that could be used to grow his business.

“I really enjoyed exploring the different lead generation avenues available from LinkedIn. The session provided lots of practical tools on how to extend my network reach and improve my LinkedIn profile,” Mr Shearman said.

TAL Risk Academy was launched in February 2015 and offers comprehensive programs to suit different levels of knowledge and competency. Since it launched in 2015, over 3000 advisers have registered for TAL Risk Academy courses.

The TAL Risk Academy offers advisers
• a choice of 29 courses delivered nationally, either face-to-face, by webinar or on demand
• over 60 CPD points by completing the full curriculum and
• the ability for graduates to receive credits and discounts towards their degree qualifications with Charles Sturt university

“We are proud to have delivered such a comprehensive program and the feedback has been extremely positive. On average, each session receives a rating of 4.4 out of 5, demonstrating the value that advisers are gaining from taking time out of their business to enhance their knowledge and skills. Importantly, the program is helping advisers grow their business but also future proofing them for future regulation. We are proud to provide this to our advisers”, Mr McConville said.
