Financial advisers still overwhelmingly support the election of a coalition government despite the much criticised proposals to superannuation changes.

The poll of the financial advice community, conducted by review site Adviser Ratings (www.adviserratings.com.au) asked who respondents would be voting for in the upcoming federal election.

With over 1000 votes registered, a vast majority – almost 72% of respondents, indicated they would be supporting the Liberal/National Coalition. Less than 13% indicated Labor as their choice, while the Greens got 6.5% of preferences.

Interestingly nearly one in 10 of respondents indicated they would be casting their vote away from the mainstream, voting for independents or minor parties.

Respondents, were able to comment on the poll, with mixed support for major parties and a healthy dose of scepticism as well. One commenter summed up what many in the advice community feel saying “Sadly I don’t think either of the major parties have a good grip or understanding of the financial services industry and especially with the advice sector.”
