Co-founder and former managing director of Matrix Planning Solutions Allison Dummett has joined ClearView in the newly-created role of head of strategic advice for its dealer groups, as the group strives to develop an enhanced professional advice framework to help advisers to build more efficient practices and deliver improved client outcomes.

Dummett, who was a founding director of Matrix from 1999 to 2013 and managing director from 1999 to 2007 – before the national dealer group was acquired by ClearView in 2014 – will work with the group’s 223 advisers to refine their value proposition, price their services accurately, and grow the profitability of their practices.

Dummett will report to chief executive officer of Matrix Planning Solutions and ClearView Financial Advice, Todd Kardash.

“Allison is a highly experienced and highly respected professional, and she is a very knowledgeable, capable and welcome addition to our team,” Kardash said.

“ClearView has a sharp focus on helping advisers deliver quality strategic advice and build more efficient, profitable and growing businesses in order to reach a greater number of Australians, and Allison will drive the delivery of professional advice across the group.”

Dummett joins ClearView from Count Financial where she worked with the accounting-based dealer group as part of the senior executive team for two years. She is also currently chair of SmartPlanner Group, which develops and markets leading edge cash flow modelling software, Prospera.

Dummett said while some groups were only focused on meeting the minimum standard for scaled product advice, ClearView was deepening its advice offering to provide clients with strategic, fee for service advice that integrated clients’ cashflow, debt, tax and life goals, and was not purely focused on product.

“ClearView’s strategic advice initiative is aimed at supporting advisers to give better advice in areas clients find most valuable,” she said.
