Superannuation academic Deborah Ralston has been named the SMSF Association’s new chair, succeeding Andrew Gale, who has just completed his two-year term.
Ralston, who holds a PhD from Bond University and a master’s degree in economics from the University of New England, has been on the SMSF Association’s board since mid-2016. Her career history has traversed both the public and private sectors, with recent interests in the start-up space.
Her research and strategy expertise has helped with the interpretation of the 2016 superannuation budget changes, Gale said.
“Coupled with a deep pedigree in public policy, especially in the role of leading the Monash-based Australian Centre for Financial Studies, she is an experienced company director in the private and public sectors, with board appointments including the Reserve Bank of Australia payments system board, the publicly listed Mortgage Choice, and the YBR FinTech Hub advisory board,” he said.
Gale will remain a director, while Vanguard Investments’ Robin Bowerman will remain deputy chair.
