The Association of Financial Advisers (AFA) has kicked off the countdown to its 2016 National Adviser Conference in Canberra, 5-7 October, with the announcement of two key speakers today.
Former Prime Minister John Howard is confirmed to deliver the opening day address this year, discussing his vision for the global economic future, and in what ways, and to what extent, China, India and the Pacific Rim will participate.
“We’re delighted to have Hon. John Howard joining us at this year’s Conference in Canberra. He provided our country with valuable economic vision and security strategies that raised Australia’s profile and impact around the world,” said AFA CEO Brad Fox. “Providing economic leadership in today’s world means taking an adaptive approach and re-envisioning old economic models to discover new ones, and that’s what we look forward to hearing from him on opening night.”
Leading this year’s AFA Inspire Masterclass is best selling author and media personality Margie Warrell. Drawing from her background in business, psychology, and executive coaching, Ms Warrell will encourage delegates to challenge what’s possible, engage in bigger conversations and lead more courageously.
“Margie is passionate about empowering women to become more powerful catalysts for change in their workplace, community and society. I believe that everyone will be inspired by her work as an advocate for female leadership. Margie is a great fit for Inspire which has the aim of connecting women in advice,” said Mr Fox.
Mr Fox said that the AFA National Adviser Conference has always been a place of inspiration and motivation, and this year is no different.
“Financial advice is going through adaptive change, the market place continues to evolve at a rapid pace and the paradigms for financial advice continue to shift. The purpose of the AFA National Adviser Conference is to bring together professional financial advisers, practice owners and their support teams, thought leaders and other industry participants to empower them to deliver great advice for more Australians and to enable them to create the adaptive change that will take financial advice beyond the horizon.”
