The Association of Financial Advisers (AFA) has announced the appointment of Emily Saint-Smith to the role of Events Associate.

Ms Saint-Smith will be responsible for delivering the AFA’s calendar of events, maintaining the already high-standard set by the Association. She will also work closely with the State Committees to provide support for local events.

Ms Saint-Smith joins the AFA from RiskInfo where she was the Senior Journalist, contributing to both the online news and eMagazine. She has also previously held marketing roles at BT and ING, and worked as an Event Marketer for the Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Throughout her career Ms Saint-Smith has closely followed the legislative changes across the advice industry and the broader financial services market, regularly reporting on how these reforms might impact advisers and their businesses.

Ms Saint-Smith said she has been an advice advocate for many years and is delighted to be able to put her marketing and event skills to use at the AFA at a time when the Association has experienced enormous growth in both membership and enrolments in their designation, the Fellow Chartered Financial Practioner (FChFP).

“I feel really lucky to be joining such an enthusiastic and dynamic team, especially at a time of changing opportunities in the advice sector,” she said. “There’s a real push towards becoming a profession, and a professional body like the AFA is central to that transformation.”

Ms Saint-Smith also said she is looking forward to meeting members at the AFA’s 2015 National Adviser Conference, to be held October 25-27 at the Cairns Convention Centre.
