Research house Lonsec has teamed up with actuarial and consulting firm Milliman to develop a retirement website for financial advisers.

The Lonsec Retire website provides advisers with tools and strategies to construct objective-based retirement portfolios as well as access to white papers and research on topics such as longevity risk, sequencing risk and the politics of pensions.

The website’s three main components are defined as research, solutions and industry panel, with a fourth component expected to be added next year, according to Wade Matterson, practice leader at Milliman.

An individual annual subscription costs $400 and group discounts can be negotiated.

“Part of the website is dedicated to research including lengthy technical papers. The solutions area includes portfolio construction guides, approved product lists, and will be updated regularly as new products come to market. We’ve also come up with a panel of experts so subscribers can tap into their expertise and views,” Matterson said.

The fourth component, yet to be built, will be more interactive and foster discussion among like-minded advisers, he added.

Lukasz de Pourbaix, general manager of Lonsec Investment Consulting, said while the financial advice industry liked to talk about retirement and the importance of appropriate post-retirement solutions, that had not transpired into action.

“Despite the increased awareness of the investment issues relating to retirement, there were no real practical adviser solutions in the market,” he said.

“We have developed an end-to-end solution to help support advisers faced with the need to provide advice to the ever-growing group of Australian retirees.”

The launch of Lonsec Retire on Wednesday coincided with the release of a new white paper, jointly authored by Lonsec and Milliman, titled Smiles, handshakes and farewells… then what? The changing dynamics of wealth, risk and needs in retirement. Read it here.
