Mark Ballantyne

Ballantyne is general manager equity partnerships for AMP Advice. In his role he leads a team that partners, as minority shareholders, with growth-minded financial planning businesses that AMP has an equity investment in. The alignment of interest with fellow shareholders ensures that Ballantyne and his team are focused on the initiatives that drive the greatest improvement for all stakeholders.

Ballantyne’s career spans several decades in advice having led licensees at CBA (Financial Wisdom and CFP-Pathways) and as equity investor leading the foundation investment by Macquarie in Findex and serving as a director of Findex for three years through their early growth. Prior to this, he had a diverse range of experience with leadership roles at ING and MLC where he also spent three years.

Ballantyne holds a Bachelor of Economics from Macquarie University and a Masters of Business Administration from the Australian Graduate School of Management at the University of New South Wales. As a qualified actuary, he is also a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia.

Ballantyne is married with three daughters. He follows real football (round ball) and is a keen, and sometimes depressed, Arsenal supporter. He keeps fit by pretending to do all the exercises in his CrossFit classes and hoping that he will eventually improve. In the community, he served as a director of a large endowment fund for over a decade using his financial planning and business experience in the not-for-profit sector.

Most of all, he has a passion for this industry and its continued success and prosperity.
