The Association of Financial Advice Australian (AFA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Phil Anderson to the position of General Manager, Policy and Professionalism.
No stranger to the Association or the industry, Anderson played an active role in AFA Policy and Professionalism from 2011 to 2015, before moving to Netwealth as its General Manager, Governance and Advice.
“Phil has a tried and proven track record in the field of policy and professionalism and a passion for advice that we believe will assist the AFA and its members take advice in Australia to the next level,” said Phil Kewin, CEO, AFA.
“The AFA wants to ensure the advice profession moves forward, with decisive and progressive action around policy, professionalism, advocacy and influence at all levels to ensure this journey continues to lay a strong foundation in meeting consumer expectations.”
Anderson will head up the quality AFA Policy and Professionalism team which now also includes the recently appointed and highly qualified General Counsel Linda Vogel. Click here to find out more about Linda.
Together they will drive the AFA Professionalism journey and their appointment is a strong signal of the AFA’s commitment to this agenda.
“The AFA has always been strong in policy and professionalism and our new team continues this legacy, building on the great work done by those before them,” said Kewin.
Commenting on his return to the AFA, Anderson said, “I believe the AFA is a place where I can make a real difference in the process of making financial advice a recognized profession.”
He added: “This is a challenging and exciting time for the profession as we progress with the implementation of the professional standards legislation.”
Anderson has worked in corporate Australia over many years including roles with Colonial First State and MLC. His industry contacts and network give him a strong appreciation of all the stakeholders and their expectations.
He replaces Sam Clarke who resigned last month to pursue her established RegTech business.Phil commences in the role on Monday 19th June.
